Leaning into values for clarity

How are you doing, three weeks into 2025?
I live in the Los Angeles area. I want to support my colleagues affected by the fires and do my part in communities, but there's been a lot to take in! I know it can't be just me!
When I find myself struggling to focus like this, I lean into my values to guide where to spend my attention and energy.
Focusing on my values, what's important for me right now:
Community and mutual responsibility - I want to strengthen relationships and restore practices that are sustainable, equitable, respectful.
Creativity - I want to help people feel empowered through their creativity, so they can imagine new possibilities and make them real. I want to use creativity to help us express, heal, and communicate clearly.
Close, individual exchanges - I work best one-on-one, and providing support at this smaller scale helps me feel more connected and less overwhelmed.
Taking time to sit, breathe, and reflect on my values brings me calm so I can identify a solid direction forward.
By focusing on actions that reflect my values, it's easier to decide where and how I should act. Having this kind of clarity helps me cut down on decision-fatigue when I'm bombarded with urgent options and helps me reserve energy for the actual work. I align my longer term projects with my values, too, to keep myself from spreading myself in too many directions.
Aligning actions with values is a key practice for me and an area I support as a coach.
Do you need help untangling your thoughts to focus on what's important for you right now?
I'm here for my people, here for my communities, and here for you.
Take care!
