Transformation through coaching

Transformational coaching goes beyond achieving a list of goals; you grow to understand yourself better and develop new habits. This transformation takes time, dedication, and focused effort through a series of coaching sessions aligned to a topic.

Coaching offerings

I have several options available and am currently developing more offerings. If you're interested in working with me, please get in touch!

I hold coaching sessions via online meetings or by phone. I am open to discussing the feasibility of meeting in person.

I always start with a free 30-minute Discovery Call to meet potential clients. This call lets us discuss your interest in coaching, decide if we’re a good fit, and identify what kind of coaching or support is appropriate.

Monthly Personal Coaching

Growing in meaningful ways, exploring possible options, and confidently building sustainable habits take time. A series of coaching sessions can help you identify and address issues contributing to your main concern.

Common themes and topics for sessions:

  • Thinking through an important decision or transition
  • Gaining clarity around a complex project
  • Aligning your decisions and actions with your values
  • Reflecting on and organizing your portfolio of work

In our first meeting, we'll scope out the scale of your concern. Committing to working together for several months (for example, 4 or 5) allows us to reserve time to work together, but we can also approach coaching month by month.

Each month of coaching includes:

  • Two 60-minute meetings (every other week)
  • Audio recordings of sessions; it's powerful to hear yourself speak
  • Summary notes of each coaching session
  • Customized emails or messages between sessions to tap into your creativity, provide resources, and cheer you on!
One-Time Strategy Session

A one-time 90 minute online session to help focus your thinking on a very specific, manageable facet of a project, conversation, or decision.

Example topics for a One-Time Strategy Session:

  • Prepare for an important conversation
  • Devise a strategy to write your bio or ‘About me’ statement
  • Outline an application for a grant, graduate school or employment
  • Reflect and plan quarterly/annual goals

A One-Time Strategy Session includes:

  • Before the meeting, I’ll send you a customized survey so you can identify meaningful details
  • An audio recording of our session
  • Notes summarizing high level insights and next steps.
  • A customized follow-up email message two weeks after our meeting with additional resources and encouragement!

Testimonials

Wendee is compassionate and empathetic, and has a desire to help people see things differently. And not in the typical, "Have you thought about it this way.” But, because of her background in art, which is a fundamentally different mode of thinking, feeling, and seeing, she can help people observe and reflect "reality" in unique ways beyond traditional coaching. Her palette draws on loss, living in multiple cultures, the value of listening with your eyes, and the value of thinking with different parts of your brain.

Jon Swanson, Ph.D
Hospital Chaplain, Consultant, Adjunct Professor

Wendee has been a guiding light, helping me untangle my thoughts and find a way forward in a time where I am questioning my career, creativity and my future.

Through her support, I gained clarity on what motivates and moves me creatively, allowing me to pursue my small business with newfound energy.

Our conversations have been invaluable, helping me navigate and plan for my future.

Shirley Rodriguez
Impact Designer

Wendee helped me think about creativity differently at a time when I felt stuck. Wendee's own life as an artist informs her approach to coaching conversations. She understands the particular challenges that creative professionals encounter, and she is wise, patient, and supportive. She really listens, and she asks great questions.

Katherine Maynard, Ph.D.
Teaching and Scholarship Hub Director

I was worried about my upcoming graduation, and the pandemic brought up a lot of questions about the future of my profession. Wendee helped me to pursue things with intention, to realize that my path did not have to be linear.

Initially, I confused coaching for mentoring. However, I soon realized the distinct impact of Wendee's approach. Unlike mentorship, where advice is often prescriptive, Wendee's coaching empowered me to uncover my truths. She didn't just offer answers; she guided me to discover them myself. This was a revelation.

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions about my approach, coaching services, and pricing.

What is coaching?

Coaching is a thinking partnership. It provides time for clients to think about their thoughts, habits, beliefs, and values, learn about themselves, and change patterns of thought and behavior. It's not just overcoming one challenge but experiencing growth to handle future challenges. And even though we work together, you are responsible for the focus of coaching.

Why introverts?

I'm drawn to collaborating with gentle creatives—introverts and highly sensitive people (HSP)—who, like me, have vivid imaginations, rich inner lives, and a deep yearning for meaning. As a creative introvert (INFP), I understand the energy it takes to share ideas with others. I value creating conditions for conversations that energize me and gentle creatives like me.

Do you work with extroverts?

Yes! If you resonate with what I've shared and are interested in making a change, please get in touch so we can determine whether we're a good fit, my extroverted friend.

Where are meetings held? Online? In-person?

Meetings are held online via Zoom. In-person meetings in Southern California's San Gabriel Valley area can be arranged.

What is a Discovery Call?

Before starting any coaching, a free 30-minute Discovery Call allows us to discuss your interest in coaching, answer your questions, and make sure we can work together.

What is the format of a typical coaching session?

Each meeting includes:

  • Working together to identify a specific focus and goal for the meeting.
  • Having a conversation that helps you understand your current habits of thinking and acting. I’ll support you through this reflective work by asking thought-provoking questions.
  • I’ll incorporate activities to help you organize your thoughts, either during the session or as preparation for a session around a topic we’ve identified ahead of time.
  • Identifying the best path toward long-term progress, next steps, and a plan to be accountable to yourself.
  • Agreeing if and how you’d like me to check in with you between meetings.

Additional support provided:

  • Audio recordings of sessions; it's powerful to hear yourself speak
  • Transcript and summary notes of each session
  • Customized inspiration emails/messages between sessions to keep you motivated, tap into your creativity, and support reflection between meetings
Why are multiple sessions necessary in coaching?

Creating long-lasting changes in patterns of thinking and acting takes time. Multiple sessions help break down significant challenges and changes into manageable steps and reinforce sustainable growth.

What is Monthly Personal Coaching?

Monthly coaching is great for clients who are ready to understand themselves and address a concern that they've been wanting to change. This process takes time. Depending on the scale and scope of what a client wants to work on, this can take several months (3, 6, 12).

Most of my clients have gained the clarity they hoped for in four to six months, which is the length of time we'd agreed to when we began. I have other long-standing clients who I meet with on a month-by-month basis. We can chat and create a plan that works best for you.

What is a One-Time Strategy Session?

A one-time 90 minute session to focus your thinking on a very specific, manageable facet of a project, conversation, or decision. Before the meeting, I’ll send you a customized survey to prompt you to identify meaningful details to share with me before our meeting. After our meeting, you’ll receive an audio recording of the session and summary of high level insights and next steps.

What is the investment for a coaching package?

Developing new patterns of thinking and acting leading to transformational change requires thoughtful reflection, experimentation and action. You should consider coaching as an investment in purposeful personal growth.

Monthly Personal Coaching (Two 60-minute meetings scheduled over one month): $245*
One-Time Strategy Session (One 90-minute meeting around a right-sized topic): $275*

*Do you offer scholarships or flexible pricing options?

Yes! I want my coaching to have the potential to transform and uplift the people I work with and their communities. I am holding space for a few pro bono or pay-what-you-can clients who:

  • Were displaced by the 2023 Maui or 2025 Los Angeles area fires.
  • Are Black, Indigenous, Latino/a, Kānaka Maoli, Pacific Islanders, Uchinānchu, or Asian-Americans.
  • Are LGB, genderqueer or transgender.
  • Are or were first-generation students.
  • Working in education.
  • Were government employees / impacted by cuts in federal funding.

I encourage each individual to honestly evaluate their financial and social resources. When I am paid by those who can invest in themselves the full price of coaching or pay what they can, I can support others in ways that align with my values and goals.

If you resonate with my approach and would like to work together, please get in touch.
